Mrs. Marlow’s Honors Chemistry class completed a lab about types of chemical reactions. They made elephant toothpaste (decomposition reaction), burned magnesium ribbon, which produces a super bright white light (synthesis reaction), combined copper and silver nitrate, where silver replaces copper (single replacement reaction), and combined copper sulfate and sodium hydroxide to form a precipitate (double replacement reaction).

Jonathan Norman received a Track State Championship ring before Friday's Homecoming game. At the State Track Meet in May, Jonathan won the following events: 400m dash (48.31), 200m dash (21.67), and long jump (22ft 6.5 in).

Mrs. Cobb's class wrapped up their unit on binary code and operating systems with a fun binary activity.

Tonight, our community will shine brighter than ever. Homecoming is a time-honored tradition where we celebrate our proud history, honor our shared spirit, and cheer on our incredible team under the Friday night lights. There is truly nothing like the energy of our home crowd, and tonight promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with pride, unity, and excitement.

As we bring that unmatched energy to the stands, let’s remember to show the rest of the state what true sportsmanship looks like.

To ensure everyone can fully enjoy tonight’s special ceremonies, we kindly ask our tailgaters to observe two quick audio reminders:

Pre-Game Ceremonies - All tailgate music must be turned off promptly at 6:45 PM so we can honor our Homecoming recognitions and join together for the singing of our National Anthem.

Halftime Celebrations - Tailgate music must remain off during Halftime out of respect for our Court as we crown our 2026 Homecoming Queen and Princess.

As we gear up for another thrilling night at Buddy Bufford Field at Larry Campbell Stadium, we need your help to keep our tailgating traditions alive, safe, and respectful! If you plan to tailgate on the Welcome E. Mason Campus of Excellence, please note that all school campus rules apply. You must adhere to the following official stadium rules:

RESPECT THE GAME
* Music must not be loud enough to be heard inside the stadium during the football game. If music is audible from inside, law enforcement will shut down all sound systems.

HONOR OUR TRADITIONS
*Complete silence is required during the playing of the National Anthem and all on-field recognitions.

PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES
*No alcohol, tobacco, or vape products are allowed anywhere on LCSS grounds.

SUPPORT OUR GAME NIGHTS
Providing designated tailgating areas requires added security and extensive post-game clean-up. These spaces create a significant extra expense for our football evening.

To help us offset these costs and keep our campus safe, a donation is greatly appreciated.

HANDICAP ACCESS
Those that need a space inside the stadium for handicap accessibility, must contact the school by Thursday, October 1st in order to receive appropriate instructions for admittance into the game.

ENTRANCE TO THE STADIUM
Students will not be allowed to bring in items such as powder, silly string, confetti, poppers, artificial noisemakers, whistles, footballs, etc. Officers will require those items to be returned to their vehicles or left at the gate.

In order to provide a safe area for the opposing team to enter and exit the field, patrons will be restricted from moving behind the scoreboard during specific times such as warm-ups prior to the start of the game, half-time and at the conclusion of the game.

Gates will open at 6 PM.

In The Salem Gazette Project, Mr. Mattison’s Lit III students are bringing the atmosphere of The Crucible to life by transforming their classroom into a historical newsroom. Working in teams, they are creating front-page editions of an editorial newspaper as if they were journalists reporting directly from Salem. Each student takes on a specialized role—writing breaking news articles, drafting op-eds, conducting character Q&As, and designing period-accurate classifieds and visuals—to analyze how public hysteria is framed as breaking news. Finished products are coming soon!

Mrs. Chambers' Lit II and Lit IV classes recently did a new activity that they really enjoyed. They created colorful posters with vocabulary words and memory clues, demonstrating their creativity. Then, the groups presented.

Mrs. Wheeler's Biology II class had fun modeling cell membrane properties with bubbles in their Cell Membrane Lab.

Students created "argument towers" in AP World History to practice developing historical context and thesis sentences.

Mrs. Farrand’s Honors Lit I class worked at group stations covering the introduction to To Kill a Mockingbird. Students rotated through stations to learn about the author's life, the working poor during the Great Depression, vocabulary from Chapters 1- 2, the cover detective, and the town of Maycomb.
